What is the PCYO?
The Placer County Youth Orchestra is a community youth orchestra serving the Rocklin, Roseville, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis, Newcastle, and Auburn areas. We focus on providing a comprehensive musical education to our students while fostering in them a sense of musicianship and duty to their community. It is our goal to work closely with schools, private teachers, and organizations throughout Placer County to make orchestral music available to everyone.

Collaboratively we plan to
continue ongoing efforts to, “cross-pollinate” with other performers in the Placer
area. Things like collaborating to do musicals and work with choral and dance groups
will again be part of our season 2014-15. Besides working with others, we will
continue to develop our small ensembles like Jazz Band, Chamber groups and Intermediate
Orchestra. The overall goal will be to create as many avenues as
possible for our students to perform and grow as musicians.
Being part of an orchestra
is the quickest and least-expensive way to improve one’s musicianship at every
level; being in an orchestra allows students to use their skills in they way
that they were intended. The fulfillment one gets from making music with other
musicians is the reward for diligent practice and instruction; this fulfillment
motivates musicians to work harder and get better.
The Fifth Annual
PCYO "All I Want for Christmas" Benefit Concert
will be held at Valley Springs Church on
December 1st, 2013.
